What the agent remembers

The agent has a Memory of you: your preferences, such as the language, number format or level of detail you like, and facts about your work, such as your role, your Teams and the topics you’re working on. It keeps them in every Conversation of yours in the Tenant you’re signed into, so you don’t have to say them again. Your Memory is yours alone: nobody else in the Tenant sees it, admins included, and each Tenant you belong to has a Memory of its own.

Say it in any Conversation, for example Remember that I want numbers in millions, or simply state a lasting preference. The agent saves it as one short sentence and confirms it with one line among the steps of its answer, Remembered:, followed by what it saved. From your next message on, in this Conversation and in every other one, the agent knows it.

What you write in a message always wins over what the agent remembers. Ask for numbers in thousands once, and you get thousands that time, even if the agent remembers millions.

The agent doesn’t remember figures or other values from your data, and it doesn’t keep what a business term means or how a metric is calculated. It tells you so when you ask it to.

Changed your mind? Select Undo in the line that confirms it. Once the answer has gone on, or after a reload, open the answer’s steps to find the line. The line then says No longer remembered, and the agent doesn’t know it from your next message on. Undo stays in the Conversation, also after a reload.

Say it, for example Forget that I want numbers in millions. The agent removes that from its Memory and confirms it with one line among the steps of its answer, Forgot:, followed by what it removed. Select Undo in that line to keep it after all: the line then says Remembered again. It comes back as something you told the agent, even if the agent had learned it on its own, so the agent never changes it by itself.

If the agent remembers nothing like it, it says so and changes nothing. If several things it remembers fit what you said equally well, it asks you which one you mean.

See and change everything the agent remembers

Section titled “See and change everything the agent remembers”

Open the account menu at the top right and select Memory. The Memory page lists everything the agent remembers about you in the Tenant you’re signed into, each with whether it’s a preference or about your work. Only you can open it.

  • To correct one, select the pencil next to it, change the text and select Save. The agent uses the new text from your next message on.
  • To delete one, select the bin next to it. It’s gone at once.
  • To start over, select Delete all memories and confirm. The agent then remembers nothing about you in this Tenant. This can’t be undone.

Below each memory, a link takes you to the Conversation it came from. If you deleted that Conversation, the memory stays, and the page says it comes from a Conversation that was deleted.

You don’t have to ask for everything. About half an hour after a Conversation went quiet, the agent reads through it once more and remembers what’s worth keeping: a preference you stated in passing, or something about your work. For this it reads only your messages and its own final answers, never its reasoning or the results of its tools, so neither your data nor the contents of your files go into it. Like everything else it remembers, it never keeps figures from your data or what a business term means.

What it learned this way shows on the Memory page marked New, with a link to the Conversation it came from, the next time you open the page. Edit or delete it like any other memory. The agent may later improve what it learned on its own, but it never changes what you told it to remember or what you corrected yourself.

Memory is on until you switch it off. To switch it off, clear Use Memory on the Memory page. From your next message on, the agent neither uses what it remembers nor saves anything new: ask it to remember something, and it tells you that Memory is off. It doesn’t learn on its own either, and it never learns later from what you said while Memory was off.

What it remembers is kept, and you still see, edit and delete it on the Memory page. You can still tell the agent to forget something, too: describe what it should forget, and it removes it.

Switch Use Memory on again, and the agent knows everything it remembers from your next message on.
